Steven Terusaki, MBA, RLA

Steve is founder and president of SEIDŌ Consulting. He has 30+ years of business experience leading organizations through growth and change; initiating systems and practices to deliver excellent client service while managing the bottom line; and implementing organizational governance structures and procedures.

Steve is certified by the Total Quality Institute to deliver TQI processes that include Cycle Time Reduction and Variance Reduction. He is also certified to administer the suite of Innermetrix behavior assessments that have been instrumental in providing our clients with a better understanding of themselves and their colleagues to build a platform from which teams and team-building can be successfully launched. He has successfully graduated from the Resource Associates Coaching Academy (RACA) with the professional tools and skills to work professionally as an Executive Business Coach.

Through his design background and training, Steve has facilitated numerous public workshops, bringing together diverse voices to develop a consensus statement - a Vision of the participating constituencies. These facilitation skills are integral to the processes and training workshops that are part of SEIDŌ Consulting’s work with clients.

Steve received his MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He combines his business degree with an M.L.A from the University of Michigan and his landscape architectural license in the State of California. He has been Managing Director of Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai America, Inc. (Society for the Promotion of Buddhism), a religious non-profit whose mission is to promote Buddhism in the English-speaking world; the CEO for Philip Williams & Associates, Ltd., a leading environmental restoration firm focused on water-related natural habitat restoration in the West; and a Vice President with HOK, one of the top 5 A/E practices in the world. He is active in his community as a Board member and president - emeritus of his temple; on the Parents’ Board for the local Japanese-language school - Oakland Nippongo Gakuen; a contributing member of the Oakland Chinatown Coalition; and a past City of Berkeley Task Force member focused on renovation and update of the City’s and the School District’s aquatic facilities. He is married with two college-aged sons.

SEIDŌ

SEIDŌ (say doe) is from the two Japanese characters SEI for "right" or "correct"; and DŌ for "road" or "path." We are rooted in the concept of the Right Path which is the Middle Way promoted in Buddhist philosophy.
